Terms & Conditions

Bookings & Payments

All bookings must be in writing, either by email or letter – the booking will only be complete after a 50% deposit has been paid. The second payment will be made within two weeks after the shoot day. All payments will be made by bank transfer; we do not accept cash or cheque.

The Bag, Overage & Underage

The full cost of a shoot day includes a 10% margin, meaning the amount paid will be the same if the number of birds shot is within 10% lower or 10% higher than the amount of birds initially agreed. If the client wishes to shoot more than the allowed for 10% on the day, these extra birds will be charged at the same rate. We work on a 3:1 shot to kill ratio, so if the number of shots is more than 3.5:1, and the number of birds shot is less than the required total, we will still charge the client for the same amount of birds they originally requested.

Cancellations

If the client wishes to change the date of their shoot day, Balsham Shoot must be notified of this by email, at least four weeks in advance. We will then try and fit the client in on an alternative date. If the client wishes to cancel their day, the deposit is non-refundable, and Balsham Shoot must be notified of this by email, ideally at least four weeks in advance.

Shoot days may be cancelled in cases of severe weather, which includes snow deep enough to prevent guns or beaters being able to get to the shoot, or thick fog that lasts longer than 11 o’clock (am). In these cases, the deposit will not be refunded, but we will offer alternative dates for another shoot day.

If in the unfortunate incident we must cancel a day due to lack of birds through disease, the deposit will be refunded to the client.

Health & Safety, Insurance

Balsham Shoot has a Safety policy which is available for anyone to look at. We provide instruction and have the infrastructure in place to help prevent accidents, but we do not take responsibility for loss of life or property, or injury whilst on Balsham Shoot, whether it be clients, employees or members of the public. Therefore, everybody who is shooting at Balsham Shoot must have their own insurance cover (e.g. BASC, NGO).

We will provide the guns with oven ready partridges at the end of every shoot day. These birds may contain lead, but it is up to the recipient of the birds to check before consumption.

A trailer will be provided for the guns at no extra cost. We are happy for teams of guns to use their own vehicles if they so wish, but we do not accept responsibility for any damages to personal vehicles whilst on the shoot.

Shotgun Licenses & Cartridges

We insist that anyone who shoots at Balsham Shoot must have their own valid shotgun certificate. We are happy for young shots to take part, but they must be assisted by a responsible adult or parent, who has their own shotgun certificate. Loaders or minders can be provided upon request. Balsham Shoot operates a strict policy that everybody shooting must use fibre wad cartridges, to reduce litter and our carbon footprint.
